Apple:
Ash:  
Beech:   Spalted beech; spalting occurs where the wood has started to rot along the grain, leaving dark marks.
Bubinga: this is an exotic hardwood, the dust of which is poisonous.
Cherry:   Green cherry: this wood was unseasoned when turned, and cracked as it dried out.
